Adventures in Sourdough

I've been attempting to make a sourdough starter since ~December. The first attempt, my husband and I forgot about and it turned funky colors. The second attempt, my husband baked because I left it inside the oven and forgot to tell him it was there. This 3.0 version though has gone GREAT.

I've been using the King Arthur Sourdough Starter recipe and it's gone great. We've made sourdough pancakes and sourdough pretzels with the discard but yesterday was the big day, SOURDOUGH BREAD.

They aren't pretty this first time but, they are delicious. It's turned out well and by making this starter, I can make sourdough bread each week, which is our favorite. One of my goals this year has been to make more of our own things and purchase fewer processed items. Baking our own bread products has been significantly cheaper and we've reduced waste by doing it. It certainly takes more time to bake rolls, tortillas, bread, and such but I find it relaxing. If you're starting to bake, I can't recommend King Arthur recipes enough. They're very beginner friendly.
